In order to help protect the character and appearance of the South Mimms Conservation Area, a Conservation Area Appraisal has been prepared by Hertsmere Borough Council. 

The South Mimms Conservation Area was designated by the Council in 1998 for its special architectural and historical interest, and as an important local village with medieval origins. 

The draft Conservation Area Appraisal provides a brief history of the area and is intended to define what is important about it. It also sets out a number of recommendations to help preserve and enhance the character and appearance of the area, including some proposed revisions to the Conservation Area boundary.  

Any comments or queries regarding the Conservation Area Appraisal and associated recommendations are welcomed by email to local.plan@hertsmere.gov.uk or and should be made in writing to the below address by 12pm on Friday 28^th July 2023.

This will take place at South Mimms Village Hall. There is no August meeting and the September meeting will be at Ridge Village Hall

As only four people stood for election onto the the new South Mimms & Ridge Parish Council all four have been awarded seats on an uncontested basis. A fifth Councillor will be appointed in due course.

Cathy McCaffrey, Mark Hedison and Chris Myers will represent South Mimms Ward, whilst Ralph Bania will represent Ridge Ward. Congratulations and thank you for your continued service to the community.

It is with great sadness that South Mimms Parish Council has learned of the death of Her Majesty, The Queen.

The Council and residents of the parish extend deepest condolences to members of the Royal Family.

In light of this sad news today, Thursday 8th September, our Parish Council Meeting this evening has been cancelled as a mark of respect.

The five councils that make up South West Hertfordshire are working together to produce a Joint Strategic Plan (JSP).  This plan will address some of the biggest issues and challenges facing the area to 2050.  The councils are Dacorum Borough, Hertsmere Borough, St Albans City and District, Three Rivers District and Watford Borough, supported by Hertfordshire County Council.

The plan will create a vision for South West Hertfordshire, setting out the priorities for the area, ensuring transport, education and healthcare infrastructure is co-ordinated and ensure new homes and jobs are delivered in the right places.

What is this consultation about?

The ‘Realising our Potential’ document marks our first formal consultation as we begin preparation of the JSP.  We are asking for feedback on a draft vision and objectives for the area, and for views on some very high level growth types we could consider.  We are not asking about specific development sites, or asking for views on housing or jobs numbers at this early stage in the plan preparation process. This ‘Realising our Potential’ document is accompanied by a Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report which we are also inviting comments on.

How can I comment?

The consultation begins on Monday 5^th September and comments must reach us by 5pm on 4^th November 2022.

We are encouraging residents to submit their comments online at www.swhertsplan.com/consultation, where all of the consultation material is available to view. Hard copies of the consultation documents are also being held at local libraries and at your local borough / district main council office reception.
